The Congress has officially chosen VD Satheesan as Kerala’s next chief minister after the UDF’s sweeping election victory. The six-time Paravur MLA emerged ahead of senior leaders KC Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala in the race for the top post. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New Delhi for the BRICS meeting carrying a symbolic diplomatic message. Araghchi travelled aboard an aircraft marked “Minab168”, a reference to Iranian schoolchildren allegedly killed in a US strike earlier this year.
