Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that India’s first made-in-India semiconductor chip will soon roll out from CG Semi’s pilot line in Sanand, Gujarat. The announcement came during the inauguration of CG Semi’s OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility. The newly opened G1 plant will handle full-scale chip assembly, packaging, and testing, with a peak capacity of 0.5 million units per day. A second facility, G2, located nearby, is under construction and will scale up production to 14.5 million units daily by end-2026. The ₹7,600 crore investment is backed by the central and state governments, with support from partners like Renesas. Vaishnaw also reviewed the Micron semiconductor plant nearby and said its construction is progressing well.
