Hundreds of thousands flee south in Gaza as Israel's evacuation window narrows; UN warns against "Ultimatum"

Israel has announced a six-hour window for Palestinians to flee south along specified streets within Gaza, as tens of thousands leave their homes following a stark evacuation order ahead of a possible Israeli ground assault. According to Gazan authorities, at least 70 people were killed along the way when Israeli airstrikes hit some of the vehicles fleeing south. The Palestinian United Nations envoy appealed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday to do more to stop a "crime against humanity" by Israel. Guterres briefed the press saying, "The situation in Gaza has reached a dangerous new low," adding that he was in constant contact with the leaders across the region to try and "prevent further dangerous escalation in the West Bank or elsewhere in the region, especially in southern Lebanon."
